RIM faces claims over the name of its mobile platform

Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM) has received claims regarding the illegal use of the BBX trademark. RIM recently released a new version of its BlackBerry BBX mobile operating system.

However, as it turns out, this trademark belongs to the company Basis International.

The company demanded that RIM cease using the trademark. After the mobile device manufacturer failed to respond, Basis International filed a lawsuit.

Recently, a court injunction barred RIM from using the BBX brand. As a result, RIM rebranded its mobile operating system as BlackBerry 10.

The first gadgets based on BlackBerry 10 are expected to be presented in 2012.
