Roskomnadzor demands the cancellation of the delegation of YouTube and Livejournal domains.

Roskomnadzor has sent a request to several domain name registrars demanding they de-delegate their domain names. The list of "disgraced" domains includes YouTube and Livejournal. Roskomnadzor's claims against the domain owners are that these websites allegedly store personal data of Russian citizens.

Accordingly, Roskomnadzor is demanding that the illegal information be removed or the domain delegation be revoked. The disputed domains include websites hosting a Moscow resident database.

Roskomnadzor reported that since the beginning of the year, the organization has succeeded in shutting down 15 websites whose domains were delegated by foreign companies. Cases involving another 42 websites are currently under review.

Experts do not rule out the possibility that foreign registrars will demand court decisions from Roskomnadzor regarding disputed domains.
