Russia has begun discussing new rules for registering .RU and .РФ domains.

The Coordination Center for the National Domain of the Internet Network has published draft new rules for registering domain names in .RU and .РФ.

At this time, users are invited to review the rules and leave their comments.

Such comments will be collected from users for two weeks, followed by a further week of analysis. A draft of the domain's rules, including user comments, is planned for release in early October.

The authors of the document note that its main goal is to standardize the rules for registering names for both zones – .RU and .РФ.

One of the reasons for the changes is to determine whether registrars violated the rules of the Coordination Center (CC) during the launch of open domain registration in the .РФ zone, as well as to prevent similar violations in the future.
