Russian authorities are ready to restrict access to illegal websites.

Representatives of the Main Directorate for Supervision of Federal Legislation Compliance of the Prosecutor General's Office are confident that the large number of various types of violations on the internet necessitates restricting access to illegal websites.

To achieve this, providers and hosting companies must install the hardware and software necessary to restrict access to resources. This is also necessary so that companies can block access to illegal content, including as a result of a court order.

An example of this type of content is child pornography, the scale of distribution of which is now enormous.

Recently, the Russian prosecutor's office has been increasingly cooperating with domain name registrars. In 2010 alone, domain name registrars deregistered 29 domains containing child pornography. And when the new national domain .РФ was launched, a stoplist of domain names prohibited for registration was created. These domains include websites that could be used to distribute child pornography.
