RU-CENTER facilitates the allocation of domains for cultural centers in Russia
The Regional Network Information Center (RU-CENTER) initiated the projectRUCLID(Russian Cultural Linguistic Internet Domains). Its main goal is to implement top-level domains intended for Russian cultural and linguistic communities.
The domains will be delegated as part of the New gTLD project, which will be approved by ICANN in the near future.
The project's authors report that cultural and linguistic communities (including ethnic groups) living in the Russian Federation can participate in it.
There is already a domain of this type on the Internet: the CAT domain, which was created back in 2005 to support the community of speakers of the Catalan language and culture.
Currently, projects are being discussed to implement the domains GAL (Galicia), SCOT (Scotland), EUS (Basque Country) and CYM (Wales).
