RuNet may face problems with the use of Cyrillic domains

During the RIF+KIB conference, Denis Yakovenchuk, a representative of the domain name registrar Garant-Park-Telecom, stated that the RuNet structure is not yet fully prepared to work with sites whose names are written in Cyrillic.

The company's specialists conducted testing, which demonstrated the expected problems with domains.

Thus, Denis Yakovenchuk noted that names containing Cyrillic letters, dashes, and the numbers 1 and 2 are currently functioning successfully.

Furthermore, it is still unknown whether the RuNet will be ready for the final launch of Cyrillic domains. As a reminder, the launch of the first Cyrillic domain is expected this fall.
