Domain Market 2022

I think it will be useful for anyone who works with domains, hosting, or creates websites. So I'll be publishing them on the blog and transcribing the videos into text.

This time, I'll share my perspective on the problems facing the domain market in 2022:

1. The initial price of domain registration is rising as planned and will continue to do so. The war has already shown that prices have skyrocketed by 10 to 50 percent of the cost of domains. This has implications for the final price for clients. And this applies not only to Ukraine but to the entire world.
2. The SEO services market is putting pressure on the marketdrop domainsIn the video, I explain that for the registrar, this is just a secondary market. But it's rapidly becoming more expensive. A decent drop domain is no longer available for under $100.
3. There were rumors about domain registration in the aggressor country through their government services, similar to Ukraine's "Diya" system. Now I understand that these are far from just rumors, and they are indeed planning to introduce such a change. Government regulation of the domain market itself will only worsen the situation.
4. Misunderstanding domain rules leads to wasted time and money. In the video, I share an example: a patent attorney might register a trademark for a client but not be aware that a .UA domain is being considered for registration under that trademark. As a result, the desired domain name cannot be registered under that trademark.
5. Each domain has its own rules. These rules may describe the lifecycle, registration restrictions for certain individuals, or other differences not found in popular domains.
6. NFT domains. In the video, I called them crypto domains, but that's not quite the right term. Currently, they have no impact on the SEO market or even the domain market. But proponents of a decentralized internet have many ideas, and NFT domains may be the future.
