The most popular hosting service turns 10 years old

The most popular "people's" hosting service, Narod.ru, is celebrating its tenth anniversary. It was 10 years ago that Yandex created a website where anyone could host their own simple website.

The service operated under the motto "Create your own website in 60 seconds." Its functionality allowed users to create a website consisting of a set of pages. Users could choose standard design templates or create their own pages entirely.

The service quickly became popular—the 100,000th website appeared in September 2000. At the same time, Yandex provided users with unlimited storage space for their websites.

Later, "Narod" was converted into a file storage service, and last year, Yandex launched an updated version of the service, offering many additional features to users and a visual step-by-step website builder.
