The most popular domain zone remains .COM

Pingdom has published statistics on the development of the Internet in 2010.

According to Pingdom, there were 1.97 billion internet users online in 2010.

The total number of websites registered in the .COM domain zone is more than 88 million, with the .NET domain zone in second place (13.2 million) and .ORG in third place with 8.6 million domains. National domain zones contain 79.2 million domains.

Pingdom counted 152 million blogs and over 255 million websites. This is 21.4 million more than the previous year.
