Samsung and AT&T face lawsuits for patent infringement
AU Optronics, the world's second-largest manufacturer of plasma and LCD panels, is suing Samsung Electronics and AT&T. The defendants are accused of infringing patents related to LCD displays.
AU Optronics had previously attempted to negotiate royalty payments with AT&T and Samsung, but this proved unsuccessful. Therefore, the company decided to file a lawsuit. The lawsuit stemmed from Samsung and AT&T's use of patented technologies without the copyright holder's consent.
Interestingly, a month ago, AU Optronics itself became a defendant in a lawsuit filed by Samsung – the lawsuits were filed in Delaware and California state courts, and a complaint was also filed with the International Trade Commission.
