Samsung has violated a number of patents.

The Taiwan Institute of Industrial and Technological Research has accused Samsung Electronics of infringing several patents. While it's unclear exactly which patents the company violated, it's only been reported that they all relate to semiconductor technology, as well as displays and mobile phones.

The Institute held talks with Samsung from June to October last year, but failed to reach an agreement.

Samsung Electronics plans to defend its innocence in court, for which it has already hired a team of lawyers.
