In September, it will be possible to register a domain in the .XXX zone.

Domain registration in the .XXX porn zone will be available this September, according to Patrick Donaldson, a representative of the ICM Registry administrator, at the "Domains 2011" conference in Moscow.

Registration will be available through auctions, with the initial domain price being $60.

ICM Registry believes that the .XXX domain will quickly exceed 500,000 names and even reach a million.

However, many companies involved in adult content production are opposed to the new domain extension. One reason for this is the need to register names in .XXX to protect their trademarks. Furthermore, some countries are already announcing blocking of the .XXX domain.

The first attempts to introduce a special domain for porn sites were made more than 10 years ago.
