Scotland prepares to apply for a new gTLD

Scotland is also interested in applying for a new top-level domain. The Scottish government has submitted an official request to the Minister for Communications to support the dotSCOT initiative. This initiative envisions Scotland receiving the .SCOT domain.

This domain will be an alternative to the currently used .COM and .CO.UK. Dot Scot Registry (DSR) has submitted a petition to ICANN for the new domain.

The DotSCOT initiative will represent the national identity movement in the online world.
