How to Create an NFT: A Step-by-Step Guide
After spending a lot of time in the NFT world, you might want to try your hand at selling tokens. There are two ways to do this: find a product with potential for price appreciation, buy it, and then try to resell it. Or create one yourself. Today, we'll explore the basics of NFT creation.

Before deciding to create your own token, you've likely already done some research and are familiar with the basic concepts. If you'd like to refresh your memory, you can read about what a token is on our website.NFT, how not to get caughtscammersin this area and avoid being considered a fraudster.
Let's return to the creation of unique tokens.
1. Ensure you have an audience
No matter how good your work is, putting it out there without anyone willing to buy it is extremely presumptuous. The likelihood that someone will find your NFT among a sea of other options is very low. Moreover, in such a case, a buyer is unlikely to be immediately interested in purchasing your token, and you'll still have to pay for product placement.
There are manyreasonsThere are reasons why your NFT might not sell, but the main one is, of course, a lack of audience. So, take care of this in advance.
2. Select an item
As you know, you can sell a wide variety of files as NFTs. These could be images, drawings, memes, GIFs, text, audio or video recordings, art objects, game items, or characters.domain name,trademark (TM)For example, the Binance NFT platform hosts a collection of tokens based on Hermitage paintings. Basically, you can tokenize almost anything, even a social media post, if you're so inclined. Just make sure you own the file. Otherwise, you could find yourself in a very unpleasant situation.
3. Decide on a blockchain
A blockchain is a database that stores information about digital assets. You need to decide which blockchain you want to use to store your NFT. The most popular options are:
- Ethereum (though the commission here can be quite high);
- Tezos;
- Polkadot;
- Cosmos;
- Polygon.

4. Make sure you have a crypto wallet
When listing an NFT on the marketplace, you'll need to pay a fee. This requires cryptocurrency, which is only possible with a digital wallet. There are several wallets to choose from:
- Metamask;
- AlphaWallet;
- Math Wallet;
- Trust Wallet.
The next step after creating a crypto wallet is purchasing cryptocurrency. A fairly common option is Ether, the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum platform. Its main advantage is that it is accepted by most NFT platforms.
5. Choose a marketplace for your token
Once you have a wallet, currency, and the product you plan to sell, it's time to actually create the NFT. To do this, you first need to choose a marketplace that will serve as your "home." Marketplaces vary, from larger and more popular to those specializing in specific areas. Keep in mind that some marketplaces accept private cryptocurrency and don't accept other cryptocurrencies. It's important to explore the available options to find the right one for your needs.
The OpenSea marketplace is considered the most popular. It's currently the leader in NFT sales and is often recommended for taking the first steps in selling tokens. Other options worth considering include:
- Rarible;
- Axie Marketplace;
- NBA Top Shot Marketplace;
- Larva Labs/CryptoPunks;
- Foundation;
- SuperRare.
Next, you'll need to connect your chosen marketplace to your digital wallet.
6. Upload the files you plan to tokenize
Typically, each marketplace has step-by-step instructions on how to upload a file to the platform, converting it from PNG, GIF, MP3, or any other format into an NFT.
7. Put the token up for sale
At this stage, you'll need to set a price for the product—either a fixed price for each buyer or an auction. With the latter option, you only set an initial, minimum price. You can also limit the token purchase time or reserve it for a specific user. We'll discuss how to price your NFTs in our next article.
