Spammers exploit unregistered domains
Security experts have reported the emergence of a number of new spam distribution techniques. One of these techniques is called "unregistered domains."
The technology works like this: anti-spam filters check the date and time of domain registration. Spammers register a new website several hours before the attack.
This allows attackers to protect the URLs they use from being quickly blocked.
Experts discovered a large number of emails linking to thousands of websites that hadn't yet been created at the time of the attack. This means that during the first hour of the attack, users won't be able to access the advertised website, but in this case, anti-spam filters won't block the website.
