The US is stepping up efforts to combat the spread of pirated content.

American anti-piracy organizations are beginning an active fight against torrent users.

Once they receive information about copyright infringers, anti-piracy agents will send them notices of violation. After six warnings, the internet provider may either reduce the access speed or even disconnect the infringer.

The new anti-piracy system is called Copyright Alerts.

However, the method for obtaining information about violators is not disclosed. Most likely, this data will be provided by the providers themselves based on the users' IP addresses.

Experts note that the agreement between copyright holders and internet service providers in the US could become one of the most large-scale anti-piracy campaigns ever.
