Ukrainian domain statistics for the first half of the year
The Hostmaster company has announceddomain statisticsregistrations in June 2010. The domain market continues to show growth, but not as actively as at the beginning of the year. Statistics for the ORG.UA domain zone continue to negatively impact overall results. Furthermore, the publication of June's results allows for the calculation of statistics for the six-month period.
UA domain
In June, the number of domains in the .UA zone increased by 184, reaching 9,500. April saw the most active registrations, with 256 domain names added. February was the second-busiest month, with an increase of 202.
In the first six months of the year, the .UA domain showed an increase of just over 1,000 domain names. The share of domains in this domain zone in the overall number of domains is small – about 2%. This is obviously due to the strict registration rules in this domain zone.
Domain .COM.UA
The .COM.UA domain traditionally leads the way in terms of registrations on the Ukrainian Internet. Users compensate for the difficulties associated with registering in the .UA domain by using this domain extension. Over the past six months, more than 18,000 domain names have been registered, and over 2,300 in June.
The largest number of domains were registered here in February (4,000 new domains) and March (4,200). Approximately every third domain name on the Ukrainian internet is registered in the .COM.UA domain zone, accounting for 32-35% of the total.
Domain .NET.UA
Almost 500 domain names were registered in this domain zone in June. This is fewer than in other months—for example, 881 names were registered in March and 753 in April.
In just the first six months of the year, more than 4,000 domain names were registered in this domain zone, or about 6.5% of all new registrations on the Uanet.
Domain .KIEV.UA
June was a slow month for registrations in the .KIEV.UA domain zone, with only 108 new domains registered. For example, 821 new domains were registered in this zone in March, and 848 in February. The total number of registrations was almost 3,000 new names.
Regional domain zones are showing growth in registrations
In addition to these domain zones, a large number of registrations are also worth noting in other domain zones. Regional domain zones .IF.UA, KS.UA, RV.UA, CV.UA, and several others demonstrated positive growth dynamics. For example, in June, 325 new domains were registered in the .CV.UA zone, over 490 in .PL.UA, over 340 in .RV.UA, and over 460 in .IF.UA.
ORG.UA: Domains are being released
The number of domains in the .ORG.UA zone has been declining throughout the entire six months. The largest decline occurred in April, when the number of domains in this domain zonedecreasedBy 5.1 thousand. In June, the number of domains here decreased by 2.2 thousand names. In the .ORG.UA domain zone, the number of domain names is decreasing due to the release of obsolete domain names that were previously occupied and are currently not in use. Negative dynamics were also demonstrated in the dnepropetrovsk.ua domain zone.
General statistics for the first six months
At the beginning of January, 483,000 domain names were registered on the Ukrainian Internet, and at the beginning of July, 511,000. The net increase in domains was 28,000. Given the decline in the number of domains in the .ORG.UA zone, the number of domains on the Ukrainian internet could have been even higher. In June, the number of domains increased by 3,900, in May by 3,000, in April by 5,700, and in January by 4,700.
