The court overturned the ban on sales of the Galaxy Tab in Europe.

A Düsseldorf court has re-instated its ruling allowing the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet to be sold in the European Union. Apple previously secured a ban on sales of the device, accusing Samsung of copying the iPhone and iPad. Samsung was preparing to appeal. Yesterday, it was revealed that Apple may have falsified evidence showing the similarity between the two devices.

However, it became known that the Düsseldorf Regional Court decided that it did not have the right to ban sales of the devices for the whole of Europe, so the ban remained in force only for Germany and was lifted for other EU countries.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab can be considered a real competitor to the Apple iPad, with sales of the device exceeding 30 million units.

The Düsseldorf court announced that the ban on Galaxy Tab sales applies to Samsung GmbH and all its partners in Germany. However, the court acknowledged that this decision is preliminary and subject to change.
