Free registration in the .РФ zone has been postponed.

The Coordination Council of the National Center for Internet Domain Names has decided to postpone the free registration of websites in the Cyrillic .РФ domain zone for several months. This decision was made to reduce the risk of domain name seizures. This was reported byRBC Daily.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Council of the Coordination Center for TLD RU. The Council decided to postpone the start of free registration of Cyrillic domains by another month and a half. A so-called premium period will be announced for the .РФ domain starting in late September.

Domain names will be delegated during the premium period using a special procedure. This procedure will be finalized in August. The cost of registering domains in the Cyrillic domain zone will be announced at that time.
