What are Art Gobblers?

This is a decentralized, self-sustaining art factory containing 2,000 NFTs. It mints Goo tokens, which are used to create blank canvases for new digital artworks. These pieces are later donated to a "belly gallery" or sold as individual NFTs.

Gobblers are designed primarily to "consume" art created by artists using the built-in drawing tool. These can then be converted into unique NFTs.ERC721The transformation occurs through an in-game process – gamification.

The drawing tool records the creation cycle of a piece so it can be recreated if needed. All pieces of art created in the project are owned by Gobbler on-chain and are displayed in its "belly gallery."

The project was created as a self-sustaining system capable of creating and accumulating works of art without external influence.

Who created the project?

Art Gobblers was created by Justin Roiland, co-creator of the TV show "Rick and Morty," with the backing of investment firm Web3 Paradigm. Developers, designers, illustrators, animators, community creators, actors, and other specialists were invited to contribute to the project. They subsequently received the opportunity to be featured inwhite listproject.

The Art Gobblers team had been working on the project for at least several months. In February 2022, an account was created inTwitter, and on June 9, the first tweet was published with an animated video featuring the project's characters. Subsequently, users began supporting the account, posting their own works created using the drawing tool.

What's the idea?

The idea was that as the project became filled with art objects, its cultural significance would grow. And as its popularity grew, so would demand from collectors. This, in turn, would encourage artists to create new works.

Initially, 2,000 NFTs were planned to be minted for free, 300 of which were reserved for the team and project participants. Over the next 10 years, players will then spend Goo to mint an additional 8,000 Gobblers using the VRGDA mechanism. This mechanism tracks price dynamics, raising them as demand increases and lowering them when sales slow down.

The issuance is carried out actively in the initial stages of the project. Over time, it is reduced and then stopped to maintain exclusivity.

How does the platform work?

Art Gobblers is built on the interaction of multiple mechanisms designed to ensure the art factory's self-sufficiency. Let's take a closer look at each element of the system.

Goo

Goo is an ERC20 token created by Art Gobblers for the creation of new canvases and the classification of art objects according to the platform's standards. Its secondary function is the creation of new Gobblers.

Pages

To add a new piece of art, you need a new canvas created by Goo. Creating art pages is the project's primary goal. Their number is limited by the VRGDA algorithm.

Gobblers

Gobblers are animated ERC721 NFTs that serve as the foundation of the project. In addition to producing Goo, Gobblers "devour" art. When you "feed" a Gobbler a page with a newly created piece of art, ownership of the page transfers to the Art Gobblers contract, which determines which Gobbler owns the art. Once "ingested," the page appears in that Gobbler's "belly gallery" and can be viewed through the Art Gobblers app.

If you transfer or sell your Gobbler NFT, all ingested art pages are transferred along with it.

Legendary Gobblers

Legendary Gobblers are the rarest Gobblers. Only ten have been created, and they are scheduled to appear at specific times over the next ten years. A new Legendary Gobbler will appear every time the VRGDA mechanism releases an additional 10% of the total Gobbler supply. A Legendary Gobbler can be obtained by exchanging a certain number of regular Gobblers.

The price of the first Legendary Gobbler is 69 Gobblers. It will decrease until the Legendary Gobbler is sold. Each subsequent Legendary Gobbler will cost double the price of the last Legendary Gobbler. This means that the next Legendary Gobbler will only appear after the previous one has been sold.

Why is the project popular?

The project launched on October 31, 2022. Just 12 hours after launch, Art Gobblers had traded nearly 7,000 ETH on Opensea, reaching a low of 13 ETH. Over the next few days, the price continued to rise, reaching just over 18 ETH with a trading volume of nearly 10,000 ETH.

Art Gobblers isn't Justin Roiland's first successful project. He previously created Rick and Morty, a successful TV show, and has sold his NFTs on Nifty Gateway. The crowning achievement of his "Best I Could Do" collection was a piece called "Smintons," a parody of "The Simpsons," which sold for $290,000.

That is, one of the reasons for the project's popularity could well have been Justin Roiland's reputation as an organizer.

In addition, Art Gobblers was created in collaboration with Paradigm, an investment company.Web3, which supports new projects with additional capital, which also helps increase confidence.

People who contributed to the project have already earned huge sums of money by being whitelisted, mining Art Gobbler for free, and then selling their NFTs. But others are holding onto NFTs in hopes of earning even more.

Controversial points

Despite the Art Gobblers' meteoric success, some are closely examining the project for weaknesses. Here are some of the concerns they've voiced.

  • Many spots on the whitelist were given to influencers—authorities in the NFT space. They minted Art Gobblers NFTs for free and sold them for a quick profit. So, was this simply a marketing ploy?
  • The project has no roadmap andIt doesn't provide any additional useful features in the future. The project's Green Paper states:

Art Gobblers is not the first stage of the Gobblers metaverse. It is a complete and complete part…
