The Pirate Bay plans to permanently change IP addresses
The Pirate Bay project is preparing for a permanent IP address change. The site's administration plans to make it accessible to users. Many ISPs block the service based on known IP addresses, in accordance with court orders. The project needs to change the IP addresses to make IP blocking pointless.
A few days ago, The Pirate Bay added a new IP address (194.71.107.80) that allows users to bypass IP blocking.
For now, the new IP address is accessible everywhere except in the Netherlands, where the Dutch anti-piracy organization BREIN demanded that ISPs block the new IP address. The ISPs refused, citing the lack of a court order.
BREIN's lawyers have filed a lawsuit. However, if the pirates introduce a new IP, this standoff could continue virtually indefinitely.
