Only every third .РФ domain is used to host independent websites.

According to the "Runet Development Rating" bulletin, which was created by specialists at the Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain, only one in three domains in the Cyrillic .РФ domain zone is used to host independent websites.

For the .RU domain, this figure is 56%. Of these, 9% of .РФ domain sites and 4% of .RU sites are used exclusively for redirects to other resources.

Last year, the .RU domain ranked fourth among the world's national domains. A year ago, the Russian domain ranked sixth. Meanwhile, the Cyrillic domain .РФ ranks fifteenth among European national domains.

Over the year, the number of domain names in the .RU domain increased by 484 thousand, and in the .РФ domain by 237 thousand. In relative terms, the growth is 15.5% for .RU and 33.9% for .РФ.

The average length of a domain name in the .RU zone is 9.3 characters, while in .РФ it is 11.4 characters, which can be easily explained by the linguistic peculiarities of the Russian and English languages.

In terms of domain name penetration among the population (the number of domain names per thousand inhabitants), Moscow and St. Petersburg are in first and second place.
