The iPad trademark will cost Apple 60 million.

Apple has resolved the iPad trademark dispute in China. As part of a pre-trial settlement, Apple paid the Chinese trademark owner, Proview Technology, $60 million.

As a reminder, Apple and Proview Technology have been engaged in legal disputes over the iPad trademark since the end of last year.

Proview Technology registered the iPad trademark in China back in 2001. In 2009, Apple acquired the iPad trademark from its subsidiary, Proview Taipei, for $55,000, but the parent company rejected the deal, believing it was invalid in China.

The Chinese company Proview Technology wanted to receive about $400 million from Apple, while the initial discussion was about compensation in the amount of $1.6 billion.
