Twitter has acquired the rights to the "tweet" trademark.

Twitter has registered the "tweet" trademark. The company was only able to do so now, as the rights to the trademark previously belonged to another owner, the advertising firm Twittad.

Twittad was able to obtain the rights to use the slogan "Let Your Ad Meet Tweets" back in 2008, as well as the trademark for "tweet", and the trademark was registered without any challenges or other resistance.

Twitter recently filed a lawsuit against Twittad, demanding it cease using this registered trademark. However, Twitter withdrew the lawsuit, most likely indicating that the companies have reached an amicable settlement.

Apparently, the move was successful, as the lawsuit was withdrawn and Twittad agreed to transfer the trademark rights to Twitter.
