Uanet celebrated his 18th birthday

December 1st is traditionally celebrated as the birthday of the Ukrainian internet. It was on this day, 18 years ago, that the Ukrainian top-level domain UA was registered.

The top-level domain .UA was delegated in 1992 to Oleg Voloshchuk and Igor Sviridov. In 1994, they transferred the domain to Dmitry Kokhmanyuk. In February 2001, Hostmaster LLC was founded, with Kokhmanyuk as one of the founders.

In honor of this event, a press conference was held, at which .UA domain administrator Dmitry Kokhmanyuk spoke about the domain's successes and presented statistics regarding the Ukrainian domain name space.

Komakhnyuk reported that as of December 1, 2010, there were more than 10,000 private domains in the UA domain zone belonging to trademark owners.

In total, about 50 public domains are used as regional ones.

As of December 1, there were 193,000 second-level domains in the .UA domain. In total, approximately 2,000 IDN domains were registered on the Ukrainian Internet.

Hostmaster currently partners with 200 registrars. One of the leaders in the Ukrainian domain market is Service-Online (NIC.UA), which confidentlysecond placeamong Ukrainian registrars.
