Ukraine ranks sixth in Europe in terms of total traffic volume.

The Ukrainian Internet Exchange Network (UA-IX) ranks 6th in Europe by total traffic. Last year, Ukraine ranked 10th.

At the beginning of May 2010, the peak load of UA-IX was 148 Gbit/s – a year earlier this figure was 35 Gbit/s.

Technical experts note that this traffic will increase in the near future. It's possible that Ukraine will become one of the top five countries with the highest total domestic traffic volume.

This is explained by a number of reasons, including the development of the Ukrainian Internet, the reduction in the cost of connecting at 10 Gbps speeds, and the launch of a new data center.

Experts note a steady threefold increase in traffic in Ukraine every year. Therefore, a tenfold increase in bandwidth is necessary every two years.

On April 1, 2009, the Ukrainian Internet Exchange Network (UA-IX) launched an IPv6 implementation experiment. Only 8% of the Ukrainian Internet Exchange Network's participants are currently participating.
