Ukraine is preparing an internet tax.

Representatives of the BYuT faction have submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada that would impose an internet tax on Ukrainians. Internet users would be required to pay 1% of the cost of every byte of information sent or received.

Revenue from the internet tax is planned to be used for the development of theater and cinema.

Next week, the Internet Party of Ukraine plans to hold a protest rally near the walls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 22, 2009.

The main reason why internet users will protest the law is the threat to unlimited internet plans.
