The Ukrainian domain UA is ready to support domains running on the IPv6 protocol.

A new IPv6-enabled name server for the .UA domain has appeared on the Ukrainian Internet. .UA domain administrator Dmitry Kokhmanyuk told Info-nik this. The new name server has the address ho1.ns.ua (2001:67c:258::1). This is the seventh IPv6-enabled server in the .UA domain zone. However, the registry is not yet ready to accept domain records with IPv6-accessible servers—this will only happen after the transition to the modern EPP registration protocol.

Dmitry Kokhmanyuk reports: "Three of our eight sites are currently operating on IPv6—two of them in Ukraine and one in North America. The IPv6 address of the .UA domain name server has been enabled; previously, anycast only worked for second-level zones."

Let us remember that the IPv6 protocol expands the capabilities of modern network devices and solves the problem of a shortage of Internet addresses that arose when using the IPv4 protocol.

Experts believe the time has come for providers to transition to the new IPv6 protocol. Its main difference is that more data is allocated to IP addresses, making the internet's address space virtually unlimited. IPv6 can encode a much larger number of addresses. Unlike IPv4, IPv6 contains both letters and numbers and is separated by the colon ":" character. Some UA domain name servers have both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. For example, the name server "ya1.ns.ua" has the addresses "77.88.210.88" and "2a01:758:ffff::88."

In the DNS system, the old Internet Protocol (IP) is designated by the “A” record, the new one by “AAAA”.
