Ukrainian Registration Market 2010: Leaders Strengthen Their Positions
In 2010, several companies consistently dominated the domain name registration market. Among them were Internet Invest LLC, Service Online LLC, Freehost, Elaid Standard Limited, Delta-X LLC (ua.delta), Hostpro LLC, and DNS-Ukraine LLC. Based on December and year-to-date results, these leaders held their positions – the top three registrars – Imena, NIC.UA, and Freehost – remained unchanged for almost the entire year, with some changes occurring in the second half of the list. This indicates that the Ukrainian internet registration market is stable and mature.
According to Hostmaster,December was the most productive month for domain name registrations.The most popular domain extensions this month were .COM.UA and .KIEV.UA. In December 2010, the total number of domains increased by almost 7,500 names. This is three times more than the previous month.
The .UA domain zone
In September, the number of domains in the .UA zone increased by 204 and reached 10.6 thousand names.
According to Hostmaster, Internet Invest led in registrations in December, with DNS-Ukraine LLC in second place and Service Online LLC in third. Thomas Private Enterprise and Allied Standard Limited LLC also made it into the top five. Sixth through tenth place were taken by Geonik Net LLC, Freehost Private Enterprise, Vyacheslav Yurievich Cherkashin Private Enterprise, Delta-X LLC, and Hostpro LLC.
According to the results of 2010, the leader in the .UA domain zone was Internet Invest, second place was taken by Service Online LLC, third and fourth places were shared by DNS-Ukraine LLC and Allied Standard Limited LLC, fifth place was taken by Geonik Net LLC, followed by Ukraine-Host LLC, Hostpro LLC, and Vyacheslav Yurievich Cherkashin, a private entrepreneur.
Domain zone .COM.UA
The number of new domains in this domain zone in December almost exceeded 6,600. This is several times higher than in September and October. The .COM.UA domain remains the main domain zone of the Ukrainian internet. By the end of December, the number of websites in this domain zone exceeded 200,000.
According to December data, the leaders in terms of registrations in this domain zone remained unchanged. First place goes to Internet Invest, second to DNS-Ukraine LLC, third to Service Online LLC, fourth to Thomas LLC, and fifth to Allied Standard Limited LLC.
In addition, based on the results of December, the following registrars entered the top 10: OOO Geonik Net, ChP Frikhost, ChP Cherkashin Vyacheslav Yurievich, OOO Delta-X.
According to the results of 2010, the leader in the .UA domain zone was the company "Internet Invest", second place was taken by OOO "Service Online", third place was taken by ChP "Freehost", in addition, OOO "Alaid Standard Limited" and OOO "Hostpro" were included in the top 5.
The second five in the list based on the results of the year are as follows: DNS-Ukraine LLC, V.V. Gubarenko, Delta-X LLC, Center for Internet Names of Ukraine LLC, and K.V. Kravchenko, Private Entrepreneur.
The .KIEV.UA domain zone
This domain zone can confidently be called a true leader in the rankings. The number of new domains in this zone has been increasing for several months. In December, the number of new domains in the .KIEV.UA zone reached 1,700—an absolute record for the year on the Ukrainian internet. In November, the increase was 1,000 domains, and in October, a total of 311. A year earlier, in December 2009, 457 new domain names were registered in the .KIEV.UA zone.
According to December data, Internet Invest LLC remained the leader in the .KIEV.UA domain zone, with Delta-X LLC in second place and Service Online LLC in third. Freehost LLC and Allied Standard Limited LLC also made it into the top five. Sixth through tenth place were taken by Hostpro LLC, DNS-Ukraine LLC, Relbi LLC, HOSTED LLC, and K.V. Kravchenko, a private entrepreneur.
According to the results of 2010, the leader in the number of registrations in this domain zone is Internet Invest LLC, with Service Online LLC in second place and Freehost LLC in third. DNS-Ukraine LLC and Allied Standard Limited tied for fourth and fifth place.
