Spring in the UA domain: The .ORG.UA domain is parting ways with its owners.
Due to the abundance of holidays, May is not the best month for doing business in Ukraine. This is confirmed by the .UA domain statistics for the past two months. In April, the number of domains on the Ukrainian internet, according to the company's dataHostmaster, exceeded 500,000, or more precisely, a respectable 504,504. The absolute increase was 5.7 thousand. May was not so successful in terms of registration, which is obvious – the country was celebrating.target="_blank">In MayAccording to Hostmaster, the number of domains in the .UA zone increased by only 3,000 names, half the number in April. The total number of domains at the end of May was 507,600.
The data from the two spring months still looks encouraging after"great blast furnace cleaning", which began in March, when the total number of domainsincreasedby only 834. However, in May and April, the processes that began in March continued, namely, the release of obsolete domain names that were previously occupied and not currently in use.
These processes are most visible in the .ORG.UA domain. In April, the number of domains in the .ORG.UA zone decreased by 3.1 thousand. In May, their number decreased by 2.3 thousand. This is not as rapid as in April, but given a certain lull in registrars and users, it can be said that the release of domain names in the .ORG.UA zone continues. At the end of May, less than 100,000 names were registered in the .ORG.UA domain zone, namely 99.2 thousand. This is approximately 19.5% of all domains on the Ukrainian Internet. At the beginning of 2010, the .ORG.UA domain accounted for 22.6% of all domain names in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet.
Almost all other domain zones showed growth, only the dnepropetrovsk.ua domain zone saw a decrease of 298 domains.
Growth rates in the main Ukrainian Internet domain zones remained the same: in .COM.UA, the increase was 3.3 thousand in April and 1.8 thousand in May; in .KIEV.UA, the number of domains increased by 604 in April and by 273 in May. Among the regional domain names, the greatest user interest was generated by: if.ua (+579 in May), net.ua (+614 in May), pl.ua (+646 in May).
