The owners of the facebook.ru domain want to get a million

The owners of the facebook.ru domain are ready to demand $1 million from the administration of the world's largest social network. The domain currently belongs to the Center for Financial Technologies (CFT) group of companies.

Currently, Facebook does not have a legally registered representative office or a domain name in the Russian domain space.

Although Facebook launched a Russian-language interface in 2008, in the spring of 2010 the company hired a development director for Russia.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg named Russia, along with a number of other countries, as key areas for expansion for his company.

Facebook still hasn't acquired a domain in the .ru zone, although Facebook is actively acquiring domains in other countries where it operates. For example, the company has purchased domains such as facebook.fr, facebook.vn, facebook.ca, and several others.

Thus, the company pays special attention to having an address in those countries where its own social resources are strong.

One of the largest Facebook-related deals was the purchase of the fb.com domain for $8.5 million – this deal entered the top 10 most expensive domain deals.

The owners of the facebook.ru domain have made no secret of their willingness to sell it for at least $1 million. However, analysts are confident that the domain name could simply be seized in court. Facebook Inc. was incorporated as a legal entity with the corresponding name in the summer of 2004, and the owners of the facebook.ru domain only received it in May 2005.
