US authorities are fighting piracy.

131 domains were shut down by US authorities as part of a major anti-piracy operation dubbed "Operation In Our Sites."

The domains were blocked because they hosted websites selling pirated content. A year ago, the country's authorities blocked more than 80 domains on the same charge.

Experts note that the domain blocking could be considered illegal, as during the operation, government representatives referred to a controversial bill (the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA), which is still under consideration in the US Congress.
