US authorities are accepting bids for a new IANA contract.

US authorities, in particular the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, announce the acceptance of a new application for the IANA contract.

As a reminder, several weeks ago it became known that the US government refused to award ICANN a new IANA contract – the contract for managing the domain name system.

The deadline for applications is now known to be May 30. Despite the IANA contract dispute, there are simply no other contenders for the management of the domain name system. Furthermore, experts are confident that the country's authorities will not transfer DNS management to another organization.

ICANN's current contract with the US government expires on September 30 of this year. The reason for non-renewal is a "conflict of interest," i.e., the involvement of ICANN executives in the domain name business and the lack of transparency and openness in ICANN's policies.
