VOLIA expands the bandwidth of its channels in the Ukrainian Internet segment to 30 Gbps
VOLIA was the first Ukrainian Internet Exchange Network participant to launch a 20-gigabit Ethernet link to a Ukrainian Internet exchange point. The total capacity of the links to UA-IX now reaches 30 Gbps. This represents a significant increase in bandwidth to the Ukrainian internet segment, as well as increased access reliability thanks to backup connectivity. VOLIA was the first Ukrainian company to deploy TenGigabit Ethernet technology for internet connections.
Since January 1, 2010, the total capacity of the company's external channels is 19 Gbit/sec, the total width of channels connected to UA-IX is 30 Gbit/sec, and the total width of parity channels is 35 Gbit/sec.
In 2009, the company fully implemented 10G technology in the Kyiv city network and network core. Each CMTS modem headend, located in each district of the city, is served by at least 20G channels, providing ample capacity for internet subscribers.
VOLIA President Serhiy Boyko noted: "With information consumption constantly growing within the UA-IX exchange point, we prioritize maintaining high-quality service and anticipate consumption trends. This clearly demonstrates the consistent development of the Ukrainian internet segment and subscribers' demand for information. Our goal is to create the most comfortable conditions for our users."
As a reminder, in 2009 the company nearly doubled the volume of included traffic in all Volya Broadband high-speed Internet access service packages, and for Internet service subscribers who also use Volya Premium TV, special Internet tariffs were introduced, allowing them to receive a larger volume of services on more favorable terms.
Subscribers to the most popular Internet packages, "Gra" and "Zhittya," are provided with free access to web resources located in the VOLYA data center, with a total capacity of up to 1 petabyte.
In the coming months, the installation of CMTS equipment certified to the DOCSIS 3.0 standard will be completed, and Internet packages with significantly higher Internet access speeds will be offered.
