For the first time in the world, a state without its own domain has emerged.

On July 9, 2011, a new country emerged in the world: South Sudan. The state was formed after the country's residents voted for independence.

For the first time in history, the newly formed state has not received its own domain. The .SD domain currently belongs to Sudan, so South Sudan needs to come up with its own character set for the domain.

The .SU domain also cannot be used, as it belongs to a non-existent country – the Soviet Union. Experts note that the .SS domain would be the most logical choice for South Sudan.

However, analysts are unsure whether the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will select this particular character combination for the new domain. This is due to the negative connotations of .SS and its association with Nazism.
