Web3 – the next generation of the Internet
Technology is advancing incredibly rapidly, creating ever-new opportunities for its application. The Internet is one technology that has changed beyond recognition since its very conception in 1969. From ARPANET, NSFNET, and the first Web1 model (it was designed for read-only use), to the decentralized Web3 we can use today. Its development trends suggest that it will continue to focus on the implementation of virtual reality technologies, play-to-earn games, andmetaverses.

What is the difference between Web 2 and Web 3?
The version of the internet we use today is called Web 2.0. It emerged in the early 2000s and gave us the ability to interact online. With it, we not only consume content but also communicate, purchase goods and services, and participate in online events. But all our virtual actions are centered around the real world and are aimed at its events. For us, this is natural.
Brands sell real products using the internet as a tool for communicating with consumers.
People study information posted online to gain knowledge and apply it in the real world.
For the most part, the virtual world, unconnected to the real world, is used only in games. The younger generation of gamers spends real money to buy new skins for their characters or unlock new maps. In the real world, these items have zero value.
The Web3 version will take communication, business development, marketing and sales opportunities to a new level - brighter, more interesting, with a wider range of possibilities.
Web3 is a concept for a new internet based on blockchain technology. Its essence is embodied in concepts such as decentralization and a token-based economy. What is it?
Decentralization is a model in which asset management and ownership are performed by creators and users, without external regulation. Information about assets and transactions with them is added online and visible to everyone. All transactions are recorded in blocks.blockchainThe built-in payment system, which uses cryptocurrency and crypto wallets, is simple and easy to use.
The digital world has gradually become an integral part of our lives. People read digital media, recognize the value of quality digital content and copyright, understand the importance of social media marketing and the value of a blue checkmark on Twitter or Facebook. Ensuring business and customer security through registration has become the norm.trademark (TM)and acquisitionsSSL certificateAnd with the active development of online games and metaverses, purchasing in-game accessories and cards no longer seems strange.
What does Web3 technology offer?
Many people are just beginning to understand that the Internet can be used not only to search for information, buy goods and spend leisure time, but also to create an image, increase income, buy and sell digital assets.
Today, trading digital assets like NFTs still seems like something only derivative traders can do. Most people don't yet see the potential in owning tokens. But things are changing, and more and more people are gradually becoming interested in, for example, purchasing a piece of a digital copy of Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss," divided into 10,000 NFTs, to become co-owners of a digital version of a world-renowned masterpiece.
TokensIt may not only be masterpieces of world art. Things that today have little value may become staples. Passionate gamers who invest hours of labor into their craft could be rewarded with digital assets that can be exchanged for real money. What many now consider a waste of time may become a source of admiration in the future.
Mark Zuckerberg has already allocated over $150 million to training people on Web3. The funds are being used to create the metaverse and everything that goes with it: play-and-earn games, virtual worlds, businesses, and various user acquisition programs.
Web3 and opportunities for a new generation of users
What will users of the new iteration of the Internet get, besides even greater immersion in the network?
Let's take the most widespread industry, gaming, as an example. Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite are known for attracting the attention of teenagers and young adults. Games like Fortnite are astonishing not only by their huge fan base but also by the sheer volume of skin sales. Fortnite has managed to sell over $50 million worth of skins from a single pack. Despite this, these skins have no value outside of the game. They can't be sold or used in other games.
Imagine creating universal game skins for different games? Web3 makes that possible. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) allow for digital asset ownership to be verified and traded. This means that players who create or already own tokens can earn money by selling in-game items to other players.
With the introduction of NFTs, the gaming system itself is changing. Companies that create online games are no longer the sole beneficiaries of profits; players can also earn money from their games. People who spend hours playing games will be able to profit from their passion. This could lead to an increase in the number of gaming enthusiasts, but the amount of resources invested in this industry will also increase accordingly.
Beyond gaming, the new internet will offer more opportunities for employment from home. With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, followed by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many companies transitioned their employees to remote work. This has become common practice. As technology advances, opportunities for remote employment will only increase.
Many people, especially older people, fear that the digital world could deprive us of real life, face-to-face communication, and turn us into asocial creatures, blind to the light of day, completely dependent on the internet. Of course, there is a risk. Some already live in such a reality. But the problem here isn't so much the internet itself as the inner desire to escape reality, to hide from the complexities of life in a simpler virtual space, to achieve success, to experience joy and pleasure with minimal effort. Some use alcohol and various drugs to escape reality, while others retreat into virtual reality. And yet others live rich real lives, using the new opportunities of the internet to their advantage.
The new version of the Internet will gradually replace the previous one, just as Web 2.0 replaced Web 1.0. And in the future, it will be replaced by something else, even more advanced.
The choice is ours - to use technology for our own benefit or for our own harm.
