WebMoney summarized its operations in Ukraine for 2009.
WebMoney Transfer, an instant online payment system that has been operating in Ukraine for six years, has summarized its performance in Ukraine for 2009.
Thus, in 2009, the hryvnia turnover of electronic payments via WebMoney amounted to UAH 1 billion 397 million. This figure is twice as high as the same figure for 2008 (UAH 663 million). The number of Ukrainian citizens registered in the system reached 1 million 550 thousand. On average, approximately 1,500 Ukrainian users register in the system per day. The most popular means of replenishing wallets is payment terminals, followed by bank payments, dealers, and prepaid cards.
User activity also continues to grow dynamically: the number of transactions in 2009 reached 4.5 million, with the average transaction amount being approximately 310 UAH. December traditionally saw the highest activity. In 2009, WebMoney peer-to-peer payments accounted for approximately 50% of turnover, while customer-to-customer payments to sellers of goods and services accounted for approximately 40%. B2C payments (payments of game winnings, bonuses, affiliate program rewards, fees, royalties, etc.) accounted for another 10%.
More than 1,000 commercial resources in Ukraine that accept online payments are already connected to the system, including mobile operators, providers, internet portals, airlines, stores, companies providing IP telephony services, hosting, and others.
Nikita Senchenko, WebMoney Transfer's Development Director in Ukraine: "Summing up the results of 2009, it's worth noting that we achieved significant results in expanding our geographic reach. Today, the total number of wallet replenishment points in Ukraine exceeds 20,000."
The past year was marked by high activity in the travel services market: WebMoney is accepted by Aerosvit, roaming operators TravelSim, TezGSM, and GoodLine, a number of travel agencies, and others. Furthermore, in 2009, the list of goods and services available for WebMoney was expanded to include products from leading Ukrainian insurance companies. WebMoney's primary development focus remains infrastructure expansion: increasing the speed of wallet replenishment and withdrawals, and exploring and implementing new payment options.
