Yahoo claims it owns Google's 'instant search' patents

Yahoo launched a prototype of a modern mobile search back in 2005. Back then, the company's project was called Yahoo! Instant Search. The company claims to own several patents for the algorithms used in Google Instant search. Google launched this search technology a few weeks ago.

Yahoo Instant Search allows you to enter search queries and display search results as you type.

The company plans to use its patents in a new development based on instant search technologies.

There have been no reports of legal action from Yahoo so far.
