Japanese residents will receive free .ORG domain extensions.

Public Interest Registry (PIR), the administrator of the .ORG domain zone, announced plans to offer free renewals to Japanese registrants. The free renewal applies to domains whose delegations expired this month or are set to expire this year.

According to company representatives, Public Interest Registry plans to prevent Japanese citizens from losing their domain names in this way. Public Interest Registry and its 17 partners will participate in the campaign.

The automatic process for renewing domain delegations in the .ORG zone will remain free throughout the year.
